HELIX Performance Physical Therapy – Elevating Your Pre-Surgical Journey for Active Living in Danville, CA

Do you have a surgery coming up? The approach to post-surgical recovery has evolved, and HELIX Performance Physical Therapy in Danville, California is at the forefront of this transformative shift. Say goodbye to the traditional post-surgery rehab routine, and welcome the era of pre-surgical rehabilitation, or “prehab”, designed to enhance your surgical recovery and overall outcomes.

Curious about the benefits of prehab for your active lifestyle? Contact us at (925) 222-5101.

In the dynamic world of sports and active living, physical therapy isn’t just about recovery after surgery; it’s about preparing your body for the best possible surgical experience and outcomes.

Pre-surgical rehab, or prehab, focuses on building strength, improving endurance, increasing blood flow, and enhancing balance before surgery. We assess your current condition, strength, and range of motion, creating a personalized treatment plan that may include:

  • Stretching Techniques: Alleviating pain, reducing muscle tension, and improving flexibility.
  • Targeted Exercises: Strengthening your body in preparation for the surgical intervention.
  • Manual Therapies: Managing pain with Ice, heat, massage, electrical stimulation, or ultrasound therapy, without relying on prescription narcotics.

A significant portion of your prehab journey can be carried out at home, with guidance from our team. This proactive approach empowers you with the tools to manage your prehab program independently, setting the stage for a successful surgical experience.

For anyone anticipating surgery, engaging in at least one month of pre-surgical physical therapy is a game-changer. Physical therapists, as movement experts, can identify nuances of movement that surgeons might overlook, leading to targeted therapy that could potentially defer or eliminate the need for surgery altogether. The benefits are particularly pronounced for athletes and the active adult population, offering reduced complications, faster recovery, decreased reliance on prescription narcotics, and increased confidence in movement to get you back out there quicker.

Research validates the efficacy of pre-surgical rehabilitation:

  • Decreases the likelihood of inpatient rehabilitation by up to 73%.
  • Expedites the achievement of post-surgical milestones.
  • Minimizes the need for prescription narcotics post-surgery.
  • Reduces the number of outpatient physical therapy sessions required after surgery.

Prehab isn’t limited to joint and muscle surgeries; it has proven effective for individuals undergoing surgery for various conditions, including cancer and heart issues. In some instances, prehab has even eliminated the need for surgery altogether.

To explore the transformative benefits of pre-surgical rehabilitation for your sport or active lifestyle, connect with our office at (925) 222-5101. After a comprehensive evaluation, our experienced physical therapists will collaborate with you to design a prehab program tailored to strengthen your body, enhance balance, and expedite recovery after surgery.

Can’t say enough about Wes

I hurt my leg training for a marathon and after working with him a few months, my leg feels GREAT! I just got home from a trip to Europe that I was a little worried about. I felt 100% the 2nd or 3rd day in Paris - maybe it was the 12-13 miles we were walking every day, maybe it was the French bread/wine, maybe it was both. Since i've been back, i've been riding my (indoor) bike too, just trying to get my leg stronger (still going to the gym, still doing my exercises).

THANK YOU for all of your efforts, your knowledge, your patience. I couldn't have done it without your guidance.  And it is 100000% appreciated.

Skilled and very engaging

I found Wes while he was at Diablo PT via Yelp when I needed help with severe sciatic pain. I was able to schedule sessions with Wes and was amazed at his knowledge, skill and very engaging personality.

At no time did I ever feel that I was getting a "cookie cutter" problem. He listens very well and works with you as an individual to provide exactly what you need.

I can't say enough good things about Wes and how much he helped me fully recover and get even better than I was before my injury.

I feel better each time I leave

Wes Anderson is one of the best physical therapist I have ever had. He is professional, bright, explains everything he is doing to strengthen my body, and I feel better each time I leave. He does not just give you a massage. He is breaking down tight muscles and gives me more flexibility and movement.

No matter what your issue is, you will get the best of care

I highly recommend Wes in Danville. Before going to Wes I had gone to several other places. Wes is, hands down, the one of the best. I saw him at his old clinic in Danville Diablo Physical Therapy. No matter what your issue is, you will get the best of care.
